Today I had the fantastic opportunity of 2nd shooting with Ian Wilkinson and we had an amazing wedding!!! Vicky looked stunning in her Winnie Bridal Gown and Michael was the charming Italian (with blue/green eyes)..Here's some of my images and thanks again Ian!!

Maternity Photo Shoot

This afternoon I had the pleasure of catching up with Selina, Shameem and their little girl Zara for a wonderful maternity photo shoot!!

These guys were fantastic! They were open to suggestions and also had some great ideas of their own. By the end of the 2 hour session, we were all excited and couldn't wait to see some of the final images!

Thanks again Selina and Shameem - you guys ROCK!!!

Mercury's Give your Photography Business a Kick in the Butt

Today I had a great day at Mercury's Business Seminar (Mercury won Portrait Photographer of the Year last year).

We learnt things from setting goals, to getting inspired, customer service, getting the clients in the door, staying in touch with our clients, what brides look for, understanding your market, branding, booking procedures, referrals, sales, and so much more...

I'm so excited by this, that I can't wait to get started on things.....

Sunrise

My son insists on waking me up at 5.30am every morning, so I thought I'd take a photo - a bit hard when you're up to nearly midnight, designing and updating things photography stuff - so the blurry effect is exactly how I saw things :O)

Well from now on when you receive an email from me, you'll see my new signature block. Now I just have to work out if I just use this one, or if I should have a portrait and wedding one....

Wedding Inquiry

Today I caught up with a wonderful friend of mine, and another friend of hers who has just recently become engaged and we spent nearly 4 hours chatting over tea and tim tams (and fruit) and it was just so relaxing and fun. And S and R were my guinea pigs for my slideslow - which I think went pretty well.

It's pouring again, but what else do you do when it's raining, but take photos, photo shop and use the new Blog Boards- yay!!!

Photographer's Lunch

Once a month, a bunch of photographers from Brisbane's City/Northside get together at each other's studios to have a catch up - and you guessed it - the top is Photography!!

Today there was Ben and myself, and 5 other photography studios got together for lunch at Stephen's place at Closeburn (out past Samford). What a gorgeous property Stephen has - it's just one of those places where you just "relax" - the mountains and scenery are just gorgeous. I took my 40D Canon Camera and snapped happily away...

And then last night I received a program from a friend/fellow photographer called "Magic Blog It Boards" and here is my first attempt at it..

9th, 10th and 11th Feb

These last 3 nights I have been editing images, choosing which ones to put into my DVD Slideshow so I can show to potential clients what I do.

The hardest part has been trying to find 2 great songs that relate to weddings and portraits - I'd like something fun, funky, but still romantic and to be remembered...

Any suggestions??

Also yesterday I booked into Mercury's "Give Your Photography Business a Kick in the Butt" workshop!! It's on the 19th Feb, so just over a week to go. I can't wait!!!!

Hair of the Dog

Firstly I have to say we woke up to hear the shocking news about the Hell Fires in Victoria. How devastating this is going to be - sounds like an incredible loss of lives, homes, properties etc etc...and that fact that it may be arson, is just beyond belief!!

Then this morning we headed off earkt to the AIPP Hair of the Dog Seminar/Workshop/Trade Show - probably one of the biggest seminars for the year!

First I saw Jackie Chan and his mottos are "Never say Never" and "Be Yourself". Jackie is probably the first photojournalistic (pj) photographer I have seen - and he's just so humble and down to earth.

George T from Melbourne had another interesting PJ style too. Not sure if it's my sort of style, but great that photographers do things differently!

Mercury M was excellent - such a character and he believes that everyone is beautiful. I'm going to book into his workshop that is in Brisbane in a couple of weeks - as I'm sure he's got lots to tell about running a professional photography business!

And lastly was Alan Moyle from Tassie (his nickname is Wombat) and he was amazing because he actually shoots Comedians - so he had some amazing stories to tell and also showed brilliant photos. Alan is very down to earth too.

Alan told us about Moo Cards (yes I have seen them before), but after seeing Alan's, I came home and ordered some from the UK. Hope they don't take too long.

All in all a long day, quite draining taking in everyone's amazing information, but totally worth it!!!

HOTD (Hair of the Dog)

Tomorrow the AIPP's (Australian Institute of Professional Photographers are starting their 3 day Seminars with guest speakers from all over the world!!

Unfortunately I can't make it there on Saturday but I will be there on Sunday!!! I'll put a post up on all the speakers that I go to - at the moment I think I am seeing Jackie Chan (yes a photographer called Jackie Chan) and there are 3 other sessions I'm going to.

We have an early start - we have to be there at 8am!!
